MORE ABOUT SARAH
Sarah Cogan is a designer and visual producer for film and tv who champions filmmakers by skillfully crafting cinematic cohesion by aligning their script to their visuals.
Sarah was eligible for the 2023 Oscar for her design work on 18 1/2 starring John Magaro and Willa Fitzpatrick, and currently has a film shortlist for the 2024 Academy Awards.
Since achieving her Masters in Fine Arts in Costume and Lighting Design from UC San Diego, Sarah has worked on indie and majors films, episodics, and branded content across all platforms. Some of her credits include designing the costumes for Tapawingo with Jon Heder, Billy Zane, and Gina Gershon and Birthright: Outlaw starring Lucas Black and Sarah Drew, while assisting on shows such as Blindspot Season 5, Kevin Can Wait, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
Sarah’s accolades include being a part of Emmy nominated costume design team from Apple’s Helpsters, nominated for her production design on indie web series Inferno and her lighting design.
Sarah has turned that cross departmental knowledge into a course to teach filmmakers the psychology of the 5 tenants of design—color, line and form, texture, scale and space and movement — and how to utilize them to enhance their storytelling.
Sarah is a member of USA/IATSE Local 829 and New York Women in Film and Television.
